This policy explains what information the Quote Surveyor app collects, why, who helps us process it, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and plain.

Server logs: technical records of requests and errorsOur servers. These exclude the contents of your quotes.

How we use it, and our lawful basis

What we doLawful basis (UK GDPR)
Sign you in, read your quotes, rate them, compare them and produce Full Quote Check reportsContract: it is the service you asked for
Email you the free pricing-schedule template when you first sign inContract: it is part of the service
Check purchases with Google Play, unlock reports and handle refundsContract, and legal obligation for keeping financial records
Find and fix faults, prevent misuse and keep the service secureLegitimate interests: running a reliable, safe service
Use your quotes to improve our checks, only if you tick the box for that quoteConsent; see the next section

Your rating is worked out by fixed rules from published cost data. AI is used to read the quote and to word the summary, but it never decides your band, the £ boundaries or how confident we are. We do not make decisions about you that have legal or similarly significant effects.

How we improve Quote Surveyor

If you agree, we use your quotes to make our checks better

When you upload a quote you can tick "Let Quote Surveyor use this quote, with names and contact details removed, to improve future checks". The box is unticked unless you tick it, and saying no doesn't change anything else in the app.

If you tick it, we keep a copy of what we read from that quote: the prices, line items, terms and our rating. Before we store that copy, we remove:

We don't keep a copy of the file you uploaded for this purpose.

We use these copies to:

We only publish those typical prices once at least 30 quotes go into a figure, and a person on our team checks each figure first. We never train AI models on your quotes, and nothing in these copies is sold or shared.

If you answer "Did we read the total right?", we store your answer with that copy, so we can see where we misread quotes. It never changes your rating.

You can change your mind at any time: Home → "Stop using my quotes to improve checks". We stop using your quotes and delete the copies we kept. Typical prices that were already calculated from many people's quotes stay as they are, because they no longer relate to any one person.

Lawful basis: your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). Where a builder is a sole trader, their details on a quote are personal data too. That is one reason we remove them before keeping anything.

Your builder's details

Quotes usually name the builder. We read those details only to remove them: they are never shown in your rating, comparison or report, and never included in the copies described above.
